Lenses

Purchasing your eyewear from an authorized, reputable optical boutique ensures that the lenses meet all mandatory UV400 safety certifications and legal protection standards.

CE stands for Conformité Européenne (European Conformity). It certifies that the manufacturer conforms to all mandatory health, safety, and environmental protection standards established by European Union legislation.

Category "2" lenses are ideal for medium sunlight, offering moderate glare protection and letting through 18–43% of visible light.

Category "3" lenses are ideal for bright, sunny conditions (typical Mediterranean climate), allowing 8–18% light transmission while ensuring optimal visual comfort.

Category "4" lenses provide 3–8% light transmission. They are extremely dark, engineered specifically for extreme glare (high-altitude mountaineering, glaciers, open sea), and are strictly unsuitable and dangerous for driving.

Category "4" provides 3–8% light transmission and is specially designed for extreme glare environments such as glaciers, high altitudes, and nautical expeditions. For everyday use or driving, category 3 is recommended instead.

Mineral glass lenses offer unmatched scratch resistance and exceptional optical clarity, but they are heavier and susceptible to shattering upon impact. Polycarbonate and organic (CR-39) lenses are significantly lighter and shatter-resistant, though more prone to surface abrasions if not properly cared for.

Polarized lenses feature specialized microscopic filters that block horizontal glare. Depending on the brand, materials, and additional coatings, polarized upgrades typically add €30 to €80 per pair.

Polarized lenses specifically neutralize reflected glare from flat horizontal surfaces (asphalt, water, hoods). Mirrored lenses reduce overall ambient light intensity by deflecting sunlight, offering a bold style statement but without active horizontal glare elimination.

Both options provide distinct advantages: polarized lenses cut roadway reflections and dashboard glare, while quality anti-reflective coatings eliminate internal reflections and visual fatigue.

Polarized lenses combined with mirrored finishes provide the highest level of reflection suppression on water. In addition, floating frames made from buoyant polymers are highly recommended for nautical sports.

Photochromic lenses are dynamic prescription lenses that remain clear indoors while filtering harmful blue light from screens. When exposed to outdoor UV radiation, they automatically darken (reaching up to ~70% tint), eliminating the need to switch between two pairs of glasses.

Yes, modern premium blue-light filtering lenses and targeted anti-reflective coatings are engineered to neutralize visual fatigue while preserving natural, realistic color rendition.

Yes, prescription polarized lenses are readily available. High-index thinning technologies allow the lenses to be made up to 40% thinner and lighter, ensuring an elegant aesthetic profile even with higher prescriptions.

In most instances, yes. The frame must not have an extreme wrap-around curve (high base curve) and should not be disproportionately oversized relative to your prescription.

There is a wide variety of tint shades, gradients, and index options for nearsightedness. To keep lens edge thickness minimal, flatter and more compact frame geometries are advised over large, oversized models.

Since optical dispensing depends on individual parameters (refraction power, pupillary distance, frame dimensions), please feel free to call us or visit our store so our opticians can tailor the ideal package to your needs.

Select a frame with ample orbital coverage extending from the brow line to the cheekbones. Contoured or subtle wrap-around frames with broader temples offer superior protection against ambient wind and airborne particles.

Fit-over sunglasses must slightly exceed the total width and height of your optical glasses. They are a practical, cost-effective solution for shielding your primary glasses from everyday wear and sun exposure.

Yes, replacement sun lenses with new tint colors, polarizing filters, or darker absorption grades can easily be installed in your existing frame.

Prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures (above 30°C / 85°F, such as inside a locked car glovebox) causes thermal shock that degrades optical coatings. Once damaged, lens replacement is necessary.

Rinse lenses under lukewarm water to remove abrasive dust, then dry them using the dedicated microfiber cloth provided. Wash microfiber cloths periodically (without fabric softener). Avoid alcohol-based household detergents, paper towels, and clothing, and use dedicated optical lens sprays.

Unfortunately, scratches cannot be polished out of optical lenses, as doing so destroys the precision curve and protective coatings. Scratched lenses should be replaced.

Frames & Fit

The first number (52) indicates the lens width across its widest point. The second number (18) is the bridge width across the nose. The third number (140) indicates the temple arm length. All measurements are in millimeters (mm).

Measure your facial width from temple to temple. The total width of the frame should approximately match this distance, with the upper rim following your natural eyebrow line and the bridge resting comfortably without pinching.

While personal comfort is subjective, acetate frames distribute weight evenly over the nose bridge and offer exceptional durability. Metal frames are generally lighter, more discreet, and feature adjustable nose pads for a custom fit.

Acetate (cellulose acetate) is a premium, plant-based polymer derived from cotton and wood pulp fibers. It is hypoallergenic, flexible, highly durable, and capable of retaining deep, rich colors far better than standard plastics.

In eyewear, pricing reflects manufacturing standards and material integrity. Premium frames utilize high-grade barrel hinges, hypoallergenic titanium or milled acetate, superior optical-grade lenses, and provide significantly greater longevity.

For high impact resistance, look for flexible frames made from memory elastomers, TR90 nylon, or rubberized finishes designed specifically for sports and active duty.

Frame design directly dictates edge thickness. For high minus prescriptions, choose smaller, rounded, or oval acetate frames that conceal lens edges and reduce peripheral bulk.

Bold oversized silhouettes with tinted lenses, sharp geometric angles (hexagons and octagons), modern angular cat-eyes, and reworked vintage aviators featuring colorful lenses are among the most contemporary styles.

An optician can adjust the temple curve behind your ears to provide a more secure fit. You can also add discreet anti-slip silicone temple ear grips or an eyewear strap.

We strongly advise visiting a licensed optician. Adjusting frames without professional tools can crack the bridge, snap solder points, or warp the lens grooves.

Look for straight bayonet temples or ultra-thin flat metal arms that slide smoothly inside helmet padding and under headphone cushions without pressure points.

Metal frames with adjustable nose pads on pad arms are ideal, as they can be brought closer together to comfortably accommodate narrower nasal bridges.

If your glasses sit crooked, slide down, leave deep red marks, or touch your eyelashes and cheeks, an optician can rebalance temple angles, adjust nose pads, and restore factory symmetry.

In most instances, repairs are feasible. Authentic replacement hinges, screws, and temple arms are readily sourced from manufacturers, which is significantly more economical than replacing the entire pair.

Authorized optical retailers can order authentic, model-specific factory spare parts using the serial code printed inside your frame's temple arm.

Style & Shape Selection

You can use digital "Virtual Try-On" tools on supported e-shops to preview frames in real time. Visiting an optical boutique in person remains the most reliable way to assess fit and proportions.

Round faces are balanced best by structured, angular frames—specifically rectangular, bold square, and upward-swept cat-eye designs that add definition.

Filter by lens width: sizes under 42 are junior/kids models, while widths between 44, 46, and 48 mm correspond to small adult fits.

Check the bridge width (DBL) and vertical lens height measurements against a pair that fits you well. Alternatively, choose frames with adjustable nose pads to elevate the frame off your cheeks.

Classic designs like the Aviator, Wayfarer, and browline Clubmaster are versatile icons that pair seamlessly with professional and formal attire.

Compact frames offer unmatched lightweight practicality for all-day use. If opting for dramatic oversized frames in photos, ensure premium optical-grade lenses to avoid peripheral visual distortion.

A statement frame adds personality to special events and elevates simple outfits, while a reliable, durable daily pair handles commutes, sports, and outdoor activities with ease.
